Artists in Residence Talk at Colorado State University

In Uncategorized on March 31, 2012 at 10:27 pm

On Thursday two of our artists in residence, Kathleen Scott-Moore and Michelle Dickson, spoke about their work at CSU. Michelle’s work is installation based and uses a combination of 2-D and 3-D elements. She¬†deals with the imprints memories leave on us…the ephemerality of moments and life. She is also interested in incorporating the viewer’s body in the work either through installation that dictates where the viewer can walk or by evoking the body through the texture and appearence of her sculptural elements.

Kathleen’s work focuses on bringing the historical into the present. Her family would participate in historical re-enactments which is what instilled this interest in her as a child. A lot of her work is portraiture of her contemporaries using antique photo processes. She intentionally obscures the image to give it a blurred and ghostly feel.

ART342 wants to say hello to YOU

Today is the day. The day ART342 becomes part of the blogosphere. To start we’d like to share a little about ourselves.

Our artist studios

ART342 is a nonprofit residency and artist community that provides the necessary time and space for independent creative practice. Studios, living arrangements and financial aid are given to qualified emerging or midcareer artists. We support the work of both national and international artists who specialize in the visual arts, writing or music composition.

During 14 and 6 week sessions in the Spring, Summer and Fall, accepted residents experience 24 hour studio access, informal exchanges with fellow artists, and opportunities in community interaction and outreach.

ART342 is located alongside the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Fort Collins, Colorado and approximately 60 miles north of Denver.
